Koala genetic connectivity is driven by the ghost of landscapes past.
Koala genetic connectivity is driven by the ghost of landscapes past (see page 10,11). Isn’t it amazing what researchers can reveal with a little data, a few
good questions and a bit of maths? Koalas have been the feature of many past issues of Decision Point.
In Decision Point #67 Sean Maxwell reflected on the value of gathering more info on koalas (as opposed to getting on with management); in Decision Point #50 Jonathan Rhodes asked how do we best manage the multiple threats of dog attack, cars and disease; in Decision Point #69 Romane Cristescu explained how monitoring koalas can enable us to benchmark whether restoration efforts have been successful; and in Decision Point #59 Christine Adams-Hosking modelled how climate change was going to change the distribution of tree species that koalas depend upon.
